Equine Therapy for Veterans

Currently, this program is designed for Military Veterans, so information below will be tailored to them. There is a possiblity in the future that we will expand to other similar groups, such as first responders.

The Equine Therapy for Veterans program is an individualized equine facilitated therapy for Veterans that is used in combination with traditional therapy. The program is run over 6 months and includes one 1 hour session every two weeks.

This is not a riding program. These sessions are focused on various ground work and bonding activites.

The program is designed for veterans struggling with PTSD and associated conditions. Eligibility includes Veterans with an awarded mental health condition and/or those who have been approved for mental health treatment through VAC. Goals are tailored to each veterans needs and are focused on promoting mental health and well-being.

Each veteran will work with an assigned horse, an equine facilitator and a registered occupational therapist, as well as they will have access to support from a psychiatrist.
