Established in 1980, The Fredericton Therapeutic Riding Association, also known as "FTRA", is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic horse centered programming to individuals with physical, intellectual and/or mental health disabilities. The programs offered support the specific needs of each participant in a goal-based environment and provide various opportunities for individuals to work on physical, cognitive, emotional and psychosocial goals (i.e. balance, range of motion, self-esteem, following instructions and socialization).
Our objective is to provide and encourage riding as a source of socialization, empowerment, confidence, leadership, enjoyment, and therapeutic exercise.
The FTRA is a member of the New Brunswick Equestrian Association and one of only two certified Therapeutic Centre in New Brunswick. We are certified through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association, also known as CanTRA.

CanTRA is recognized as the only governing body for therapeutic riding in Canada. To become an accredited centre, the facility must meet very strict rules on safety and instruction. Each centre must have a minimum of one CanTRA certified instructor.
