James McKay Fund

James spent a great deal of time volunteering with the Fredericton Therapeutic Riding Association, not only during our riding programs, but also at numerous fundraisers and at many volunteer training evenings. From the beginning, he was a huge part of our organization and he brought so much joy to both riders and volunteers. He would always be the first one to welcome a new volunteer and would try his hardest to make every ride enjoyable for the rider he was assigned to. Even when the rides started to become tough for him, he still tried to find some way to participate and help out. He had a passion for anything related to horses and was determined to get as many people as possible to see the benefits of equine therapy.

Sadly on April 13th, 2024, James passed away. Although none of us were blood related or knew him that long, we all felt immense sorrow at the thought of such a kind and loving man leaving this earth. We are forever grateful for everything he has done and have no doubt that his spirit will live on for years to come.

As a way to memorialize James, we made the decision to start the James McKay Fund, which will provide financial support to participants wanting to take part in any of our programs that may otherwise not have the funds. Our hope is to help as many participants as we can through this funding!
